The draw for the initial phase of the 2024/25 European competitions dealt Scotland's two biggest clubs a range of glamorous meetings.
The new format for the respective competitions means that the Scottish giants will play eight fixtures in the opening phase instead of the six-match days that they faced in prior years.
Here we will look at the all-British ties that have come from the results of the draw, looking at the size of the tasks that await Celtic and Rangers.
Aston Villa vs Celtic
Celtic will play Aston Villa on match day eight of the UCL in which they will be massive underdogs. Villa are offered at 3/1 in a Premier League bet to finish in the top four this season which shows that Celtic will play a top team from the strongest league on the planet.
The odds to win the Premier League feature the Villains as 66/1 outsiders, though, showing Celtic certainly could have had it worse if they drew one of the bigger English clubs such as Manchester City.
Celtic will certainly have an outside chance of returning from Birmingham with a result in late January. However, they will have to work remarkably hard in midfield and be compact in their defensive third - two things that are not commonly present in Brendan Rodgers' European away setups.
There is the factor that, with it being the final fixture of the initial phase, Villa's fate could already be decided, and that could work in Celtic's favour. The Scottish team could face a rotated team that will not need to win if Emery leads them to qualification for the play-offs or a top-eight finish before match day eight.
A historic night south of the border for Celtic can certainly not be ruled out at this stage.
Rangers Will Meet Spurs and United
Rangers, on the other hand, will meet English sides in the Europa League on what will undoubtedly be crucial match days. They will play Tottenham Hotspur at home on match day six and Manchester United away on match day seven.
In the first all-British contest with Spurs, Rangers will fancy themselves as they would against any level of opposition at Ibrox. Ange Postecoglou has already shown that he is comfortable rotating his team in the competition, and many of Tottenham's second string could struggle to deal with the demanding atmosphere at the venue.
The English team will likely be favourites due to the abundance of talent they possess, but Rangers as a club lives for huge European nights like the one that will come this December, and they will be desperate to triumph.
The tie away at Old Trafford however should be an incredibly difficult one for Rangers. They have not beaten United in Europe in four attempts, and it is unlikely that will change in the new year.
United will be hugely fancied as they tend to be for any European home game, although Rangers will Philippe Clement's side will likely set up to frustrate Erik Ten Hag with a deep defensive unit - which has commonly been a problem for United to dissect - and that could give them a shot at earning a draw at one of the toughest English away grounds.
Regardless of how these three fixtures play out, history is set to be made in Europe this season. All-British European meetings were once incredibly rare, but the opening season of the new format will feature three remarkable ties in its initial schedule.
